Sha’ar HashamayimSynagogue is located in the heart of downtown Cairo. One of the most famous synagogues in Cairo, its history dates back several centuries, originally built in the 17th century. The architectural style of Sha’ar Hashamayim Synagogue reflects the influences of the Ottoman period, with elements such as domed roofs, ornate decorations, and traditional motifs. The interior of the synagogue is adorned with woodwork and intricate designs. Like the Ben Ezra Synagogue, Sha’ar Hashamayim Synagogue holds significant cultural and religious importance for the Egyptian Jewish community. It served as a place of worship, study, and communal gathering for generations of Egyptian Jews.
